Meditating can be done in several ways but we will outline a simple method that works for a lot of people. First off, find a quiet place, a place with few distractions and where you can sit in a comfortable position (sitting in a chair is fine, you don't need to sit cross legged or in lotus position). Close your eyes and relax your whole body. Start off with your toes and work your way up to your head. Become aware of each part of your body and make sure it is comfortable, if it isn't, readjust yourself and then continue. Make sure your breathing is smooth and whole. You want to be breathing in full breaths all the way down into your gut. Breathe in and out slowly and fluidly. Now you want to quiet your mind. You will get better at this with practice so don't worry too much if you find this hard at first. Some people find it beneficial to focus on their heartbeat but you will find what works best for you. Now you want to hold this state and maintain it for about 1/2 an hour. Repeat daily and you are on your way to a healthy and strong mind. Creativity and New ExperiencesGiving your mind new material to add to its repertoire is important. This will increase your creative ability and make you a better problem solver. Everything you do will improve as a result.
